The Tonks group is an organometallic chemistry group at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities.
Our goal is to make molecules in order to solve difficult problems in catalysis. We also study reaction kinetics and mechanism to develop new stoichiometric and catalytic processes.
Currently, we are developing Ti-based redox catalysis for the modular and facile construction of heterocycles, investigating new organometallic catalytic polymerization reactions for the practical synthesis of sustainable and biodegradable polymers, and synthesizing new bimetallic and redox noninnocent scaffolds to probe new inorganic reactivity.
We're a young group, and looking to grow in 2017-2018! Interested prospective Chemistry graduate students should contact Prof. Tonks at itonks(at)umn.edu.
All undergraduate researcher positions are filled through Summer 2017, and we currently do not have any additional funding available for postdoctoral scholars.
